Ontario Labour Union, CEP Local 2003 Member FAQ'S Page
Below, we have tried to answer the most commonly asked questions that our CEP Union members have. This is only a partial list so if you find that your question is not answered on this page, please [EMAIL] us or [CALL] us during [CEP LOCAL 2003 UNION OFFICE HOURS]
Q: I feel that I have a Union grievance, what do I do?
A: First go and speak with your Steward(s) in your workplace. The Steward will review your CEP Union collective agreement with you and help you determine if the company has violated the agreement. |
Q: I have a Union grievance, what should I do now?
A: Speak with your Steward and they will help you understand the grievance procedure in your CEP Union collective agreement. If required, the Steward can assist you in filing a grievance. |
Q: I am interested in becoming a CEP Union Shop Steward, what do I do?
A: The position of a Steward is elected by all the members at your workplace. We would suggest speaking to the existing Steward and the members to get a feel for what is required. You could contact the Local Union office or your National Representative for more information as well. If you intend to run for the position, another member at your workplace must nominate you for the position during elections which are usually held just before or just after the bargaining of your collective agreement. |
Q: I am a new or existing CEP Union Shop Steward and need training. Where can I get more information?
A: Call your CEP Local Union office and speak with the Business Manager. |
Q: I need to get some blank grievance forms. Where can I get them.
A: CEP Local 2003 posts their forms on this website so that you can download them or just print them. Visit the Documents and Forms page to access them, or call the CEP Local Union office and speak with the Executive Assistant and we will email, fax, or mail them to you. |
Q: I am interested in learning more about my Union collective agreement. Where can I get a copy?
A: Most Union collective agreements provide language that requires the Company to provide you with a copy but you should talk to your Steward first. Other options would be to check the CEP Local 2003 Union website, on the Collective Agreements Page and see if a copy is online or you can call your CEP Local 2003 office and speak with the Executive Assistant and we will email, fax, or mail a copy to you. |
Q: I was approved by the CEP Union Local to attend a Steward course and I need to know if expenses like parking and lost wages are covered. How do I find out?
A: Call your CEP Local Union office and speak with either the Executive Assistant or the Business Manager. Or downlaod a copy of the Fund rules |
